Today there is a photo in the papers of Eva Longoria-Parker travelling back from Cannes to LAX wearing a purple tracksuit, trainers, a baseball cap and no make-up. Of course she still looks stunning but this outfit is a far cry from the airport style of her best friend Victoria Beckham who is always pictured in her highest Christian Louboutin skyscraper heels and tightest mini dress. So what is the best way to travel and still look fashionable? Personally I think a mixture between the two styles, not too dressed down (I think the purple tracksuit was too chav for Eva and Christian Louboutin shoes are far to cocktail party for the airport). I would advise leggings at the moment or skinny jeans complete with UGG’s as feet and ankles tend to swell on planes, especially on long haul flights. Always take a hairbrush and basic make-up (none liquid of course) so that you can still look alive when you arrive at your destination.

Crocs – A Fashion Crime

Oh no! I’ve just realised that it’s about to become summer which means that the worlds worse fashion invention is about to make an appearance once again – the Croc! This is a shoe that should have been destroyed as soon as the developers thought it up. I must admit that I think they are OK on children, I can see the appear from parents to put their kids into rubber shoes as they are going to be playing on the sand, in and out of the sea. But I do NOT see the appeal to adults! They are the most unattractive shoe I have ever seen, not to mention the fact that wearing rubber shoes in summer on an adult is just asking for horrible sweaty feet. And they come in bright colours to draw attention to themselves. I do not understand why people would choose to wear these horrible shoes when there are so many great gladiator sandals available.

Hunter – the Wellington Revolution

I was flicking through Vogue last night, and there between the Tiffany diamonds and Louis Vuitton luggage was an image of some wellington boots, but these were not just any old wellingtons they were Jimmy Choo for Hunter wellies! No longer are Hunter wellingtons only for people walking their dogs or for the upper class horse riding, the Hunter wellie has now become fashionable. The pair of Jimmy Choo wellingtons that I saw in Vogue sell for around £300, which is a lot of money considering they are made of rubber. They are available in black and feature a crocodile print on the outside with a leopard print on the inside. These boots may not be favourites of the traditional Hunter Wellington boot wearer but they are sure to be making an appearance at many festivals this summer.

Sam Cam – The Fashion Winner

This month the majority of the national news has been dominated by the general election, which was going to win, Brown or Cameron, Labour or Conservative. The fight to become the next Prime Minister has been a fierce contest but the main contest has been in the fashion stakes where the wives have been battling it out for the best dressed first lady. Sarah Brown has been wearing her trademark cardigans and below the knee skirts, conveying the image of a sensible wife of the defending Prime Minister. On the other hand the new mum-to-be Samantha Cameron, or SamCam as many of the tabloids have called her, has been the clear winner. She has been mixing high fashion brands with high street names like Zara and Jigsaw. As creative director of luxury brand Smythson, SamCam is well-established on the style scene and she has been holding on to her top spot as fashions first lady.

Baby Bump Fashion

At the moment there seems to be a lot of celebrities who are pregnant and they all have very different images of how to wear clothes when pregnant. In the press today, glamour model Daniel Lloyd was pictured wearing a figure-hugging blue maxi dress, in theory this sounds like the perfect outfit for a mum-to-be but it appears to cling to all the wrong bits and makes her look at lot larger than she really is. Also in the press this week was pregnant Danni Minogue who looked amazing in her choice of outfit, which consisted of a tight, long navy blue t-shirt and leggings. This outfit hugged her bump whilst showing off her existing curves, she certainly looked like a yummy mummy-to-be.

Redesigning Kerry Katona with new clothes

It seems like every day there is s new story in the press on fallen star Kerry Katona. It’s safe to say that 2009 was not her year after she appeared dunk on national television, admitted taking cocaine whilst her 4 children were in her house, dramatic weight gain and divorce from her second husband, taxi driver Mark Croft. However it seems that 2010 is going to be a much better year for Katona, who minimal fame is mainly down to the fact that she was once married to Brian McFadden from Westlife, as she and her new management reinvent her with a fashion makeover. After spending thousands on cosmetic surgery including liposuction and a breast increase, despite that she was declared bankrupt last year, the Z list celebrity is trying to regain her popularity with a new wardrobe. Gone are the chavy style tracksuits as she stepped out in London last night triumphing the high street in a £180 Karen Millen dress and matching peep-toe heels. Love her or hate her (or maybe you have no idea who this wannabe star actually is), Katona certainly does appear to be getting her life and style back on track.

Matching Clothes with your Daughter

Recently there was a photo published of Kate Moss out with her daughter Lila-Grace out shopping in London and one could have easily been mistaken for the other. They were both dressed down in UGG boots, Kate was wearing gray trousers and a black top, while her daughter wore black trousers and a gray top. Neither of the ladies seemed to be dressing appropriately for their age, as her 7 year old daughter looked more like a teenager and 36 year old Kate looked like she was dressing like she was 10 years younger. However, Kate was bang on trend as she accessorised her outfit with fringed bag, very Spring/Summer 2010. This trend of dressing like your daughter has also been seen on the Material Girl herself. 51 year old Madonna is regularly spotted not only dressing like her 13 year old daughter Lourdes but actually wearing her clothes too.

Sex and the City – The Fashion Bible

Last night I was reminded of how to be creative and artistic with fashion as I watched the Sex and the City film for the hundredth time! I had totally forgot how creative Patricia Field is with the four ladies but more specifically, how she mixes genres, decades and colours when she dresses Sarah Jessica Parker’s character, Carrie Bradshaw. Over the six years that the television programme ran for Parker’s character has some fashion hits which includes a breath taking Vivienne Westwood wedding dress plus with her obsession with Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo shoes. She also had some misses with the some 80’s inspired clothes and dressing as a ballerina in the middle of a cold, wet Manhattan day. Yet for all her hits and misses in the fashion stakes one thing is certain, Carrie Bradshaw was never afraid to experiment with colour and contrast and I can’t wait to see the fashion in the second Sex and the City film which is due for release next month!

Fashion Dilemma – its April!!

It’s that time of year again when I just never know what I should be wearing!? It’s April and today has been really hot and sunny, I have been wearing leggings, ballet flats (without socks for the first time this year) a shift dress and a long sleeve white top underneath. Oh and what a mistake the long sleeve top was, I have been roasting all day! Yet the other day I went out in jeans, UGG’s and a jumper and was freezing! With the blue sky outside, I feel so tempted to bring out the summer wardrobe but as we live in Britain you know that it could be wet and windy tomorrow. I think my only advice is to make sure that you do lots of layering. This style is bang on trend and it also allows you to add or remove clothes depending on how weather continues throughout the day.
Oh the fashion dilemma that is April, bring on May!

Ladies Day at Aintree Races

Well today was ladies day at Aintree Races and as usual there were some fashion hits and some terrible fashion misses! For me the biggest winner in the style stakes was Colleen Rooney who left her usual self-tan and bright colours at home as she opted for a very sophisticated LBD, natural skin tone and fabulous accessories, all finished off with every girls wardrobe must-have, a pair of classic, black Christian Louboutin heels! Considering she only gave birth two month ago to her son, I thought both her figure and her style looked amazing.
However, there were also some laughable outfits on show as well as hundreds of women turned out in most bright and garish clothes I had ever seen. One girl even matched her awful bright purple and blue mini dress with matching bright purple hair. The summer staple, the maxi dress was also featured at the races today but its only April, I think the maxi dress and the florescent colours should be saved until you are holiday in a sunny place, not Aintree in April!
