I definitely think that it’s time to bring out your colourful accessories again. There’s been a lot of press recently about nude tones, metallic items and all over berry tones, but these can be hard to carry off in the real world. When you’ve got a client meeting, a lot of people may shy away from the trends in favour of ‘safe items’, when really with a little confidence you could arrive in a metallic tulip skirt, a skinny vest top and a blazer and make a fabulous impression. These items seem to be the trend in the major magazines at present, and even more so when teamed with a statement coat, especially with winter approaching. Dressing for work seems to be an issue for a lot of my friends who are bored of their black trousers, white top and court shoe uniforms. To stay feeling safe with your work outfit but still make an impact, you need to make sure you’ve got one focus item. How about a black shift dress with purple tights, or a grey suit with nude legs and bright pink suede platform shoes? If you really don’t want to break the pattern, try adding a red necklace or scarf to your basic items to perk them up a bit.
